New Mexico-Your Travel Destination

        New Mexico is a wonderful place to go on vacation. There slogan says it all "The Land of Enchantment" If you want to be enchanted or just plain go on a vacation that will relax, New Mexico is the place to go. Here are several places you can go to in New Mexico. 
·                     Ruidoso, NM above 6,000 feet, a great place if you want to go to the mountains and located in the southeast corner of New Mexico. You can hike, golf, fish, camp, ski at Ski Apache and more in this location in the Sacramento Mountains. There are some interesting places and facts about Ruidoso listed below. 
1.                  Lincoln National Forest in Sacramento Mountains has hiking, camping, fishing which is all in and near Ruidoso, NM.

3.                  Near Ruidoso there is a hostel called the Cloudcroft Mountain Hostel if you do not know what a hostel is click here. It is like a hotel. It is a
Beautiful Location in the Sacramento Mountain 28 Acres of land backs up to the Lincoln National Forest with unlimited hiking. Close to Ski Apache and Cloudcroft,25 miles to White Sands National Monument and 10 miles to Alamogordo. Did I mention it has a scenic view and nice lodging.
4.                  Why should you go? If you like the mountains, scenery, outdoor activities this is your place to go.
·                     White Sands, NM National Monument is a the place to see and explore white sand dunes in New Mexico, maybe even the only place in the U.S. Rising from the heart of the Tularosa Basin is one of the world's great natural wonders - the glistening white sands of New Mexico in South East Central Nm. Great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand have engulfed 275 square miles of desert, creating the world's largest gypsum dune-field. White Sands National Monument preserves a major portion of this unique dune field, along with the plants and animals that live here. 1.                  Why should you go? It is one of the worlds great natural wonders that offers you great views and white sand that you have never seen. Plus it is a very interesting place and it offers you camping in the National Park.
·                     Santa Fe, NM the state capitol at ( 7,199 feet) located in Northern New Mexico which is full of art galleries, art museums, sculptures and the culture aspect of Santa Fe. Plus Santa Fe is right next to the Mountains and has several things to do all year long including skiing at Ski Santa Fe, hiking, camping and more around the region. Plus it has a great feel to the town, great food, great lodging ,and spas.

·                     Taos, NM is almost just like Santa Fe rich in culture and a lot of art galleries, art museums and more art. But Taos is more into the mountains and is at ( 6,969 ft) . Plus Taos has a old Indian type pueblo called Taos Pueblo which is the old side of Taos, and is rich in things to do. Taos also has a famous bridge called the Royal Gorge Bridge that crosses the Rio Grande River. A very popular tourist attraction. Also there is the Taos Ski Valley which has several ski areas and is like a town of its own great all year long for activities like hiking, camping, and sight seeing. 1.                  Why should you go? Great place to go sight seeing at historical places, skiing, family fun, activities all year long, rich in art, and if you like spending time outdoors.
·                     Carlsbad,NM is in southeastern New Mexico and is best known for Carlsbad Caverns which is a cave systems or cavern system in which you can go inside and see great rock formations or stalactites. Carlsbad also is full of bats, but they won't hurt you it is part of the attraction and you can see them go out of the cave at sunset and enter at dawn everyday. 1.                  Why you should go? It’s a very interesting place especially because of Carlsbad, Caverns. What more do you want it's a bat cave.
·                     Roswell,NM as you all know is the famous town of aliens, UFO's and is famous for the supposedly UFO crash landing. In Roswell there are several museums with alien info and UFO's. Plus if you like investigating and aliens, UFO's, and conspiracy theories of area 51 this is your place to be. There is of course the UFO Festival, and UFO tours. Plus Roswell has a music and arts center.
1.                  Why you should go? No place in the United States there is a place like Roswell and is very interesting to see the alien and UFO museums.
·                     Farmington,NM is located in the northwestern part of New Mexico. It is an old style town that has hiking,4 corners attractions, museums, trading posts, native culture. There are attractions like the mesa Verde ruins. Farmington is surrounded by world-class scenic and historic treasures, from the Ancient Puebla (Anasazi) ruins of Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon , to the natural wonders of Angel Peak and Shiprock Pinnacle . Visit a historic trading post to view and or buy authentic Native American jewelry, pottery, rugs, and other art. Or…visit a local gallery for some of the finest authentic Native American art in the area. 1.                  Why should you go? It's a nice cool place to go on vacation and there are a lot of things to do for a small town and it's scenery is breathtaking!
·                     Tucumcuri,NM is a little town in eastern new mexico and is on route 66. It has a lot of places the way it looked when route 66 was in it's prime. Cool old fashioned place,50's style town.

·                     Albuquerque,NM is a great city to go on vacation. There are many things to do,especially when they have the Balloon Fiesta which you can ride in hot air balloons. You can also ride in a hot air balloon any day too. Albuquerque has a lot of museums about old Albuquerque and has a lot of history.There are a variety of things to do in Albuquerque. Whether you're visiting one of their 14 beautiful golf courses, taking a hot-air balloon flight over the scenic Rio Grande Valley, mountain biking in the Sandia Mountains, hiking among dormant volcanoes, horseback riding along the river or strolling through Old Town, you'll find Albuquerque offers a real breath of fresh air. Don't miss the stunning views of the city from Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway, as it slowly climbs the 10,378-foot peak of the mountains that form Albuquerque's eastern border. 
Prefer high heels to hiking boots? There are lots of indoor Albuquerque tourism opportunities as well. Albuquerque, the largest city in New Mexico, is packed with activities, cultural attractions and distinctive sightseeing. Start your Albuquerque experience with a visit to the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center or one of their 19 museums and immerse yourself in art, culture, cuisine and cultural performances. There is so much to do, you may need to stay awhile to see everything Albuquerque has to offer.

·                     Gila National Forest is a protected national forest in New Mexico in the southwestern United States established in 1905. It covers approximately 2,710,659 acres (1,100,000 ha) of public land, making it the sixth largest National Forest in the continental United States. Part of the area, the Gila Wilderness, was established in 1924 as the first designated wilderness by the U.S. federal government. Aldo Leopold Wilderness and a small part of the Blue Range Wilderness are also found within its borders. (Most of the Blue Range Wilderness lies within neighboring Apache National Forest.) The forest lies in southern Catron, northern Grant , western Sierra , and extreme northeastern Hidalgo counties in southwestern New Mexico. Forest headquarters are located in Silver City, New Mexico. There are local ranger district offices in Glenwood, Mimbres, Quemado , Reserve , Silver City, and Truth or Consequences . Terrain ranges from rugged mountains and deep canyons to semi-desert. Due to the extremely rugged terrain, the area is largely unspoiled. There are several hot springs in Gila National For example, including Middle Fork Hot Springs, Jordan Hot Springs, and Springs. You can ride your bicycle on the many bicycle trails it has to offer, jog and hike on the trails, and go camping in one of their several camping sites in the Forest.
